My goal in teaching information literacy is to challenge student perceptions of what research is and create an environment where students feel inspired to indulge their genuine curiosities. I truly believe in Ranganathan’s “every reader his book” law. I believe that if a student is connected with the right information, they will be just as passionate about its potential as I am. In order to try to get students to their “book”, be it literal or metaphorical, I encourage risk taking, open discourse, and discovery based learning in my classroom.
